Choosing the correct GDome for your Camera

GDOME FIT GUIDES AND FAQ:

Q: What GDome should I buy for the GoPro Hero 7?

A: The GoPro Hero 7 (Black) is the same dimensions as the Hero 5 and Hero 6, you would need a dome the fits the GoPro Hero 5/6/7.

We have a few options here

Q: What GoPro Dome should I buy for the 2018 Hero+?

A: The mid-2018 Hero GoPro Camera works with the same GDome as the Hero 5, Hero 6, and Hero 7.

The dimensions and buttons on the GoPro Hero 5, Hero 6, and Hero 7 are identical making theGDome for the Hero 5 compatible with the Hero 6, Hero+, and Hero 7.

Our personal Favourite is the SS GDome as it is capable of going to 40m depths, the housing also adds protection from the elements (sand & salt).

Older models of GoPro cameras require a different GDome as they have different shaped lenses, with buttons are in different locations on the camera.

The GDome for Hero 4 works with the original GoPro Slimline Housing (the one without screws on the front of the lens) it is important that you have a Slimline Housing as the older Dive Housing will not fit our Dome Housings.

Q: What is the difference between the “BASIC” and the “NAKED” GDome for your Hero 5/6/7 Black

A: The Naked GDome has a front viewing window so you will be able to view your front screen, this screen shows shooting modes, available space and more.  The BASIC GDome does not have the front viewing window but keeping in mind that you will be able to view everything on your screen on the back of the camera.

Q: What is the difference between the “SS” and the “LENS ON” GDome for the Hero 5/6/7 Black

A: The SS GDome you will have to remove the front lens of the GoPro before placing the camera into the housing, the LENS ON GDome you can put the full camera (with lens) into the housing, which goes into the GDome.

Q: Why choose a GDome for your Hero 5/6/7 Black that comes with a housing vs one that works with the camera naked?

A: The GDome units that don't come with dive housings are obviously cheaper, they have exactly the same performance and will get equally good split shots.

The SS and LensOn GDome will allow you to go to greater depths as they are in fact removable dive housings.

If you plan on shooting in heavy surf breaks we also suggest that you go for a unit with a dive housing as it will give your camera extra protection from impact and sand particles.

If you plan on going deeper than 10m or plan to get close to that depth, make sure you choose a GDome that comes with a dive housing.
