The GDome XL 4 is a popular option for adventure photographers who need robust protection and flexibility. But will your camera fit comfortably and securely in this dome? In this post, we'll go over the GDome XL 4's dimensions, compatible cameras, and factors to consider for the best underwater photography experience. Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just diving into the underwater world, understanding fit is key to capturing those breathtaking moments without compromise.

Compatibility Requirements for GDome XL 4 Surf / Fusion

To ensure compatibility with the GDome XL Surf / XL, there are two essential requirements:

Physical Fit: Your camera must meet the size constraints of the GDome to ensure a proper fit (see below).

TRS-Compatible Non-Proprietary Shutter Port: Your camera needs to have a TRS-compatible wired remote shutter port to utilise our 2-stage trigger system.

Checking Camera and Lens Fit

As a general guideline, if your camera body is the same size or smaller than a Canon 5D MK IV, it should fit the GDome XL comfortably.
However, please note that cameras with built-in battery grips, such as the Canon 1DX, will be too tall to fit properly. For the best results, always double-check the dimensions of your camera against the specifications of the GDome XL 4. Alternative Options

If your camera isn’t compatible with our trigger system, you can still take advantage of our flex backdoor, which allows you to assign a custom button to capture photos. Additionally, using a wireless remote along with our flex backdoor is another great option.

Cable Compatibility

We offer a variety of TRS cables compatible with over 300 camera models; however, we do not stock or sell certain proprietary cables or TTRS cables.

Important Note: If you acquire a new compatible camera, you may need to purchase a new camera cable to continue using your GDome XL Trigger.
